Experimental Study on Physical and Rheological Properties of Trinidad Lake Asphalt Modified Binder

Mastic asphalt (MA) has been recognized as one of the most deformation-resistant and thus durable materials for bridge pavement. The performance properties MA are highly dependent on physical rheological binder applied in mixture. To modify to obtain expected mixture, Trinidad Lake Asphalt (TLA) is often applied. In this study, TLA-modified binders be used mastic pavement systems were evaluated develop optimum material combination using conventional performance-related testing. Physical tests carried out with different modifier content range 10–50% a weight basis. revealed that TLA addition 35/50 base bitumen should close value 20%. Higher concentrations may make very stiff could induce low-temperature cracks asphalt.
